Fenton Christmas pictures

I forgot to post pictures from the Fenton Christmas!  Here they are:

When we first got there I got some pictures of Clark by the tree:

He is constantly moving!! It's hard to get a non-blurry picture!

And here are the Fenton cousins!! back row: Annie, Alexandria, Mackenzie.  Front row: Josh, Andrew, Josiah, Molly, Clark.

The three youngest:

Here's a better picture:

And I forgot to post this video from our family Christmas:

Merry Christmas!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Clark had a wonderful first Christmas.  He was a little confused because we celebrated Christmas as a family on Christmas Eve.  He woke up around 8am, had breakfast, then we opened gifts!  He got a small toy piano, a teether, foam blocks, playmat, some DVDs, a Christmas CD, and a giraffe stuffed animal!  His big gift was a sit-to-stand walker!  Here are some pictures of the gift opening time:

Clark's toy piano:

He is sitting on his new playmat:

Oh boy, we have a blinker!!

His stocking is in the background:

His big gift! the sit-to-stand Vtech walker!!

After gifts Clark went down for his morning nap and Josh and I had our Christmas breakfast.  We had omelets (tomatoes, cheese, bell peppers, onions), hot chocolate, limeade and blueberry muffins!  Here's a pic of Josh at breakfast:

We had a relaxing afternoon.  Clark didn't take very long naps, which was a bummer, but I got lots of piano practicing done!  At 5:40pm we loaded into the car and drove over to the church for the Christmas Eve service.  Josh sang in the choir and in a men's group and I accompanied the choir and played a violin solo, and played violin for the congregational hymns.  The choir sang a cantata, complete with narration, and it was beautiful!  One of the songs was called "O Holy Night" and the narration started with the piano introduction.  The narrator was telling of Jesus' birth and as she spoke I was getting so choked up!!  She quoted, "and Mary gave birth to her firstborn, a son."  And I just thought of Clark and how he's my firstborn and he's a son too and how much I love him and how much Mary loved Jesus as his mother.  I don't know what got into me but I thought I was just going to cry right there as I was playing!!!  It's amazing how the Bible comes alive as we make our way through life.  Anyway, as I was having these sentimental thoughts, Clark was in nursery wailing away but unfortunately we couldn't rescue the nursery help because we were involved in the service until the very end!!  It was a huge blessing to be involved with it.  And although Clark had a hard time, he survived. :)

Christmas morning came and we hopped into the car again to head to church!  Clark did very well in nursery this time (he's more of a morning person :).  Josh did the powerpoint slides during the service and I played violin because my Dad was the worship leader.  Again, it was a wonderful blessing to be involved!  Aunt Kim played flute with me and we also did some prelude numbers--that was fun too!  After picking Clark up from nursery we took some pictures in the sanctuary.  I wish I had planned the backdrop better (or at all!!) because the pictures turned out nice:

After church we came home, Clark ate lunch, then we loaded up the car and headed over to Mom-mom and Pop-pop's house!!  Clark fell asleep in the car so Josh and I took turns sitting out in the driveway with him for the first half hour, then we woke him up.  He was sleeping for about an hour so I was happy with that!  Clark loved playing with his cousins and just watching them play too!  He also loved watching Rufus, the dog! :)  He had a snack about mid-afternoon then I tried putting him down for a nap--he wouldn't have it.  So we decided to wait.  I tried feeding him dinner and he was super fussy so I tried putting him down again and he went down easily and slept for an hour!  That was great!  He woke up at 5:30pm and hung on until about 8:15pm which is when we left.  And he slept all the way home, transitioned right into his crib and slept until 6am!  Yay!  Then Josh popped his paci and he slept until 8am.  All-in-all a wonderful Christmas for Clark :)

But let's fill in the details!  We opened presents before his afternoon nap.  He got a fun popper toy, learning home and Little People train set from Mom-mom and Pop-pop!

He got a beautiful monogrammed apron & play pots and pans from the Roesler cousins!  And an adorable personalized picture book from the Yorgey cousins!

He had a wonderful Christmas!!  And we hope that deep down in his little heart he was grateful for all the presents. :)  I know we were!!!  It's great to have new toys around the house.  He was getting sick of playing with the same toys all day every day!! :)

Josh and I received beautiful gifts as well!  Every year Mom Fenton gives me a caroler and this year she is a beautiful lady holding a fancy beach-themed wreath!  Josh suggested that I write the year on the bottom of the caroler.  However, I will always remember because this year Mom and Dad bought a beach house!  So it goes with the theme of the caroler. :)  We had a delicious Christmas dinner around 4:30pm--ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, cranberry sauce and cranberry relish! plus pumpkin pie, whipped cream and ice cream for dessert!!  We were soooo full by the end of the night!!  Plus Mom had put hors d'oeuvres out all afternoon for us to munch on--they were super yummy too!!  It was a Christmas feast all day!!  It was such a relaxing day for us.  Clark did really well, Josh and I could just sit and chat and catch up with everyone.  We are just so thankful for such a wonderful family!!!  Everytime the holidays roll around I just think of how so many people have dysfunctional, awkward family gatherings, and how wonderful it is that Josh, Clark and I have normal, and not even just normal, but awesome!! family to spend holidays with.  It's truly a wonderful time!  It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Seven months old!

to scoot or not to scoot...that is the question:

Clark's 7 month pictures:

When he was weighed at the urologist (clothes, wet diaper and all), he was at 18 pounds, 8 ounces!  Still no teeth, but plenty of drool and chewing.  He will chew anything he can get his hands on (literally...beware when wearing large earrings....).  He is a great sleeper--sometimes he sleeps 12 hours in a row, sometimes we have to pop his paci in the middle of the night.  He has started sleeping for about 11 hours total so from 7pm to 6am.  I will usually nurse him at 6am just so I can sleep in a little longer...:)  But eventually that will have to stop.  I think we will keep pushing back his bedtime so he sleeps in another hour.  And as you saw in the last post, we are beginning to wean him.  I think that pretty much covers his life at this point!! :)

Weaning/Scooting

On Monday Clark and I braved the wind and cold and went to Walmart. Clark was all out of Zantac! I had called in the prescription so I was thinking it would be a short trip. Well when I got there they said my insurance won't cover it until 12/26. (Long story.) So we would have to pay $40. I called Josh and he suggested we give it a couple days and if Clark is absolutely miserable we will just pay the $40. When we got home I decided it might be a good time to try weaning Clark. The pediatrician said when he is weaned his reflux will go away, he is a really good eater, and he takes a bottle really well. The only problem I saw was formula may give him the same reflux that breastmilk does. Well I thought it was worth a shot.

So for the past two days I have only been breastfeeding him before bed and if he wakes up in the early morning hours (like five or six o'clock). And so far (besides my own discomfort), it has been going really well!! He hasn't been spitting up or crying with the formula. And he didn't cry when I breastfed him so far. The real test will come in the next couple days--when the Zantac is completely out of his system.

In other news! Clark scooted around in his crib today! He was sitting up and had some toys in front of him and he kept accidentally knocking them out of reach. Before I knew it he had scooted about two feet! Very exciting! I'll try to get a video of it!

I'll end this post with some pictures and videos:
Clark loooooves his reflection :)

Fun in the loft at the end of the day:

this is Clark's new favorite toy!!  He puts the tail of this purple whale in his mouth and chews on it.  Sometimes he just holds it in his mouth--no hands!!  It's hilarious!

What has Clark been doing lately?

Well it's been awhile since I've updated on a consistent basis...once again! I will try to do a better job.  Here are some pictures of what Clark has been up to lately:

We got our Christmas tree on December 3rd.  Fun memories!

 big boy!

We had dinner at Grandma's on 12/15--here's Clark checking out the digital photo frame during his dinner:

Josh got this little bone at a Zyrtec event at work...I think it's a chew toy for a puppy...:)

happily playing!

I still need to take his seven-month picture.  Woops!!

Well our schedule has been pretty packed lately!  The first weekend in December I played a four-day Messiah gig at Valley Forge Christian College.  It was a super fun gig and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to play!  That same week we traded in my Scion xA for a Honda CR-V.  I am so grateful!!  Clark and I are so much safer in a bigger car.  I would get so nervous driving that Scion.  And I'm glad to have a 4WD vehicle during the snowy months (if that snow ever comes this year....).

On Friday 12/9 I played in the Aleithia Christmas concert.  I taught music at Aleithia for three years.  I reconnected with them to play two pieces and I'm so glad I could do that!  It was fun to see the kids again.  The next day was the Women's Christmas Social at my church.  I'm on the Women's Committee as well and was asked to provide music and meditation for that morning.  I really enjoyed putting the program together!  My cousin Katie read Scripture and my friend Elisha signed the words.  I played four pieces on my violin and then sang two.  It was a very meaningful time and once again, I was so happy for the opportunity.  Coleen Garner gave a talk about the first Christmas and dealing with trials and happiness during Christmas.  It was a wonderful balance between rejoicing at Christ's birth and identifying with those who are suffering this time of year.

The following week was Mimi's birthday on 12/13.  Grandma invited us over on 12/14 for a dinner for Mimi.  Josh had an office Christmas party that day and got home early so we were able to be at Grandma's around 5pm.  Clark ate before everyone got there, which worked out really well because then he played while we ate.   The next day (12/15) was Mom-mom's birthday!  We called her to say Happy Birthday, and we were going to drop off her gift but unfortunately our schedules didn't line up.  It was great to talk on the phone though!  She had a busy birthday and ended up celebrating over the weekend instead.  Then on Friday (12/16) I went to an office Christmas party at my old work in Pottstown.  It was so much fun to see everyone!  Thank you to Aunt Kim for watching Clark for over three hours while I was gone!!!  On Saturday (12/17) Grandma and Grandpa watched Clark while Josh and I had a date. :)  We went to Antonio's for lunch!  It was so nice to just relax and chat together over a meal.  Our mealtimes are usually disjointed since Clark doesn't enjoy sitting in his high chair for very long.  In the afternoon Aunt Kim and I went Christmas shopping.  I got a lot done!  I only have one person left...oops I'm cutting it close!! :)  Then Sunday was church and cantata rehearsal in the afternoon.  And that brings us to today!  We are looking forward to this week of Christmas--it's such a special time for believers.  Josh will be working all week but then he only works three days next week.

We hope you're all doing well!  Enjoy this blessed Christmas week!!

Happy Birthday Daddy! Love, Clark

On December 8th Josh turned 31! We celebrated that day but also on the following Saturday. Aunt Kim watched Clark so we could go out to dinner! It was so relaxing! We went to Red Robin because Josh likes that restaurant..actually it was because he had a birthday coupon which gave him a free burger and sundae. He was thrilled to say the least hahah I like Red Robin so it worked out for me too haha! His gifts were a DVD series called The Pacific and two Flyers hats. And lots of hugs and kisses from Clark :)
This is Josh at the equator in Uganda, summer of 2010!

This is a video of the women rehearsing a song that they sang at the conferences:
